The secret behind our very cool powered speakers.

Heat is the number one enemy of speakers. The more power you crank through speakers, the hotter they get. If they get too hot, the sound distorts and the speakers can blow. However, with the new EON powered speakers, this is an unlikely scenario. That's because JBL has designed a new technology called the Thermomaster(TM) heat management system. The more you crank the system, the better the cooling system works. It's a two part cooling system where a die-cast aluminum baffle and tuned ports work together to draw heat away from the internal components of the speaker. 

First, the baffle integrates all the individual pieces of the bi-amped powered speaker into one unitary design. Integrally cast to the baffle is a JBL bi-radial horn with a 90 x 50 coverage pattern, an amp for the tweeter, an amp for the woofer, tuned ports to keep the amps cool and, of course, the woofer. And rather than having separate mechanisms to cool each internal part, the EON technology utilizes the entire baffle. Considering the significant size of the baffle, it offers enough cooling power to practically eliminate the risk of a melt down. No matter how hard you push it. 

Then there are the tuned ports. One main purpose of the tuned ports is to cool the speaker. No news there. But what is news are the aluminum fins incorporated into the ports of the EON system. As air pumps through the speaker the better the ports work. In the powered speakers, the tuned ports are located just below the amplifiers for optimum effectiveness.

With bi-amped powered speakers, you have balance, power, clarity and utopia.

Now you probably noticed earlier, we said one amplifier for the tweeter and one for the woofer. That was no misprint. It's a feature usually found only in more complex concert systems costing considerably more. With EON, you get all the advantages of bi-amped powered speakers in an affordable system. And the advantages are plenty. With bi-amped powered speakers, the confusion and expense of adding additional components such as power amplifiers and electronic cross-overs are completely eliminated. The dedicated, made-to-match amplifiers distribute the right amount of power to the high and low frequency drivers. This system is designed to eliminate power compression and distortion so you produce a cleaner, more natural sound. The result is that you get optimum performance at every level. Even when the bass is pounding, the high frequency vocals are crisp and clear. What's more, with EON's bi-amped powered speakers you can plug a mic right into the speaker and you're ready to play. That's convenience.

A new angle to JBL sound.

The unusual angle of the EON speakers does more than provide an option of using it as an upright speaker or tilted monitor. It reproduces your sound without creating sound. For instance, in conventional symmetrical enclosures, internal reflections can color sound quality significantly. With EON speakers, the irregular shape provides a more ideal environment for the low frequency transducer while at the same time minimizing high frequency reflections.
