OH
my goodness...it arrived in a simple brown box, being carried
by our head custodian...special delivery for ME! My students gathered
around and we got it up and running in no time at all. They all
got to try it out, by reading and presenting information. (Boy,
did they show off!) For me, as I watched their reactions and listened
to their comments, this was the best thing that has come along
in education since the computer! The boy in the back row no longer
sleeps. The girl in the front loves to read now that I can hand
her the mike and nobody can tease her any longer about how she
talks too softly! I can turn my back, rush to the back of the
room to get something off my desk and keep talking all the while
AND EVERYONE CAN STILL HEAR ME! I scooped the system up
at lunch and took it to my department meeting. I told everyone
if they were nice, (really nice means they have to bring me cookies),
I would share. Maybe. (They were all green with envy!) I am surprised
how light it is, and portable. But the one most impressed, was
the specialist who works with the hearing and vision impaired
students. She says that all the kids with hearing problems should
have them in their classes. Since I was ill this week, I found
that it was effortless and non-tiring to use the mike instead
of working so hard to project my voice! What a boost! Better than
an energy bar with chocolate chips! Now, I can save my energy
for the more important things, like chasing after the idiot who
lets his car alarm go off outside my classroom window! I plan
to recommend this system to the Director of Special Services...like,
"wouldn't it be nice if Santa brought one for all of us?" (It
never hurts to hint around a little...) In short, this is the
biggest thanks, from my tiny, little heart. This is the best material
gift I have ever had in my profession in the last 23 years. AND
it came from you. All in a little brown box. Thank you so much!Susan Garcia Benicia High School Benicia, CA. |
